Resistance to uranium - Yvonne Devine, Southeast Chapter, Conservation Council of NB

Summary

Yvonne Divine speaks about being resistant to the idea of uranium mining in the province of New Brunswick. She addresses the fact that there is 75,000 years of waste after the resources are extracted. The proposition of a 300 meter moratorium is discussed and shown to be not good enough and that New Brunswick is geographically not big enough, because the wind would blow the uranium into the water and food chains. Yvonne talks about how the government missed the people’s point about not wanting mining at all. She speaks on ways to educate and pass the message to government.
