Vera Francis speaks about defending the right of the Passamaquoddy people and area in New Brunswick. In her presentation Vera explains the cultural, spiritual and economical significance that this land has. She continues to discuss how the women who raised their kids and worked on the land for generations don’t know how to stand against the big industrial corporations that are trying to take over the land. Francis explains how they need a voice and she (as a law student at UNB) has become that voice for them. She talks about the goals, the work that has been done in four years and what needs to be done in the future.
